The renovation of the small external area of this penthouse emerged from the need to replace an old swimming pool, which was very deteriorated, with a bathtub, which had to be protected from the sun. As part of the renovation work that would be necessary, we proposed making some other specific modifications to improve the space.

To access the bathtub level, instead of creating a solid box as is often the case, we created a deck that spills gently into the interior of the apartment. A garden accompanies this circulation, echoing the vegetation presence of the valley forest that dominates the view.

The sliding bathtub deck allows use of the entire area most of the time when the bathtub is not in use. A cover/pergola made of bamboo mat, polycarbonate and metal beams protects the area from both sun and rain and extends the interior of the room to the outside area.
